Building on the Sustainable Finance Forum’s 2030 Roadmap recommendations, the Centre for Sustainable Finance: Toitū Tahua was pleased to be invited by the Climate Change Minister to submit recommendations on key design considerations for an Aotearoa New Zealand taxonomy. A sustainable finance taxonomy is a classification system for clearly defining which economic activities and assets are aligned to a sustainable, low-emissions future. The Centre has convened an interim specialist Independent Technical Advisory Group (“ITAG”) composed of climate change experts and financial market participants to prepare and publish non-binding advice to the Climate Change Minister on the design of a taxonomy that is fit for purpose for Aotearoa New Zealand. The ITAG’s draft recommendations and meeting minutes will be published on the Centre’s website in late April 2024. In this webinar, participants had the opportunity to learn about the draft recommendations and provide real-time feedback. The feedback will help the ITAG finalise its recommendations to the Minister, which will be delivered in June 2024.
