The Centre for Sustainable Finance (CSF) is pleased to be working with its partners, including major financial institutions, the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA) and the Ministry for the Environment, to accelerate financing solutions for abundant, affordable clean energy.
Energy Minister Simon Watts has today announced a new Solar on Farms initiative, to make it easier for more farmers to take the next step towards installing solar and battery systems, helping reduce energy costs, increase on-farm resilience, and gain greater control over power use.
EECA is leading the delivery of Solar on Farms in collaboration with farmers, sector bodies, and technical experts, and the package of initiatives will be available soon. Currently in design, it will include:
– Independent and practical tools and advice to assist farmers
– A dedicated help function to guide farmers through the opportunities
– Feasibility studies and technology demonstrations tailored to various farm types
– Real-life energy data for different farm types, showing how solar energy works in practice
– Independent advice on progressing consents and applications with local and regional bodies and Electricity Distribution Businesses
– A partnership with the Centre for Sustainable Finance to accelerate access to finance, making it quicker, simpler and easier.
Through the partnership, CSF is exploring how the introduction of interactive tools could simplify the often complex investment decision-making and financing journey for farmers. The aim is to enable end-to-end simplification, with tools delivering decision-useful outputs for banks as well as farms, to enable streamlined processes for borrowers and lenders alike, lowering the cost to serve.Â
